The Vertex School is building in-depth online training programs to help people get jobs in cutting edge creative technical fields such as Games and Real Time Technology using our combination of skill mapping, accountability, mentoring and just plain old hard work and butt kicking. We're a higher quality, more affordable and more up to date alternative to associates and bachelor degree programs which can be outdated by the time you finish them. Our students work at Apple, Houzz, Bioware, EA, CD Projekt Red and other industry leaders.
General Info

Facilities
Class are held live and online. Live sessions are supported by in-depth objective centered training and an amazing community of over 2,000 creatives.
Staff
We have two elements to this. We have full time staff that for most part keep themselves up to date on their own time and out of their own interest. The other element is that we hire AAA artists like Marcin Klicki who by the nature of their work are keeping up-to-date if not pioneering the latest techniques. Our staff then in turn learns from the AAA mentors and the wheel goes round and round.
Employment Rates
We have about a 75% placement rate for those that graduate and those who apply for two jobs a week within eight months.
Software
Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter, Substance Designer, marmoset, Unreal, Houdini. These are pretty standard software packages within the game and real time industries
Hardware
Students use their own laptops and hardware although Ryan has been known to send a computer to the students before. We use student licenses for the most part.

•Ryan Paul - 3D Artist, Mass Virtual
At Vertex i learned the differnce between making a model and making a functional model. This in turn gave me the tools I needed to finally land a wonderful job. It's been about 6 months since I scored that job and things are great! While not always typical, I managed to get this job before the Game Art Immersive was even finished! With some grit, hard work and time Vertex can offer you the guidance and the tools to break into the field.
Networking & Careers
Students
Students follow a specific curriculum depending on which program they’re in. Every week in the platform they are assigned tasks related to their project and twice a week they meet with their mentors to have their work reviewed and to learn specific techniques related to that weeks topics. We expect about 20 hours of work every week from our students and we consider ourselves a part-time program. Students join in for the live lectures and critique and then are able to pursue their own tasks at their own place.
Studios Hiring
Following studios hire our graduates: We’ve placed students in CD Projekt Red, Bioware, Sony PlayStation, Certain Affinity, Epic Games, Apple, Houzz and other studios.
Courses
Our game art program has three stages. The first stage focuses on the creation of a realistic and game prop. This is focused on the specific skills of high poly, low poly, texture and render. The second stage focused on a specific job and the students build a capstone project to create either an environment or a character. The third stage of this focuses on more tech art skills like coding as well as building your own game in unreal engine. The element that sets Vertex apart from other schools is our singular focus on the skills needed to get the job. Our curriculum is drive from the specific skill signals that recruiters and Art lead look for in candidates.

Game artists are in demand in more than just the game industry. At Vertex School our training programs are designed to help you become a job candidate for games, animation, tech, and more.
Creative tech is not your fathers art program. Salaries for US based jobs involving just one 3D skill are 35% higher than the average salary for other advertised jobs, according to Burning Glass & Epic. On top of that, 23% of job openings were for entry level positions... making this a great place to jump in and excel!
