Welcome Georgie Brown - Our newest team member at The Rookies

Georgie Brown is joining The Rookies and is bringing here experience from working on blockbuster films such as Doctor Strange, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Dumbo, and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

G’day guys, gals and non-binary pals!

I’m super duper excited to announce I’ve joined up at The Rookies to be their Project Coordinator! A big thank you to Andrew and Alwyn for giving me this opportunity to help young artists find a platform to show the world their artistic flair in film, animation and video games.

I have been following The Rookies since my university days, way before I met Andrew and Alwyn. I’ve always loved how passionate the company was about supporting artists, so I am beyond thrilled that I’ll be able to contribute to their ongoing efforts within the digital media industry.

I have been lucky enough to work as a Production Coordinator on some of the biggest blockbuster films over the past few years, including Doctor Strange, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Dumbo, and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

I have been lucky enough to work as a Production Coordinator on some of the biggest blockbuster films over the past few years, including Doctor Strange, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Dumbo, and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. In fact, two of the FX teams I coordinated at separate studios were nominated for the VES Award for Outstanding Effects Simulations in a Photoreal Feature in 2020. I am immensely proud of what the artists achieved and feel very privileged to have witnessed their movie magic from start to finish.

Even with my previous experience, I’m still a bit of a “rookie” myself at heart. This is why as the Project Coordinator at The Rookies I know what types of questions young, possibly nervous individuals like yourselves want answered. I’m here to help you. Here at The Rookies, we want to equip you with knowledge, skills and give you the recognition for your talents through our competitions and articles to help you land that first job.

This being said, the project I am working on needs input from seasoned industry professionals to help these upcoming artists find their way. This help would be provided primarily through surveys, emails and interviews. The aim is to take the collective knowledge from VFX, animation and video game veterans and create the clearest definition skills required to pursue career paths within VFX, animation and video games.
