This week we want you to create an underwater creature project. Then simply tag it #RookiesWeeklyDrills and #UnderwaterCreature.

The oceans are filled with countless incredible creatures both big and small. We need you to pick one creature this week and recreate it digitally. You can create marine mammals, cephalopods, crustaceans, ocean fishes, turtles and even sharks and rays. Find one that inspires you to pick up a wacom pen and get creative.

To get some feedback on your work-in-progress project before you submit it, head over to Discord channel and chat with other artists having a crack. To see all the Weekly Drill projects just follow this link.

Winner

Weekly Drill #35 - Jellyfish | The Rookies
Jellyfish is a real underwater predator so I decided to make one. There are so many types of it, in different shapes and colours so I had wide creative field :) I used mostly Maya for blockout/retopology, Zbrush for sculpt, Substance Painter and Marmoset Toolbag to render with Photoshop support.

Second Place

Weekly Drills 035 - #UnderwaterCreature | The Rookies
Pipeline: Reference gathering with PureRef / Blockout + concept sculpt in Zbrush / Retopo + UDIMs in Blender / Detail Reprojection + Final Sculpting Pass + Displacement Maps in Zbrush / Textures in Substance Painter / Shading + Rendering in Blender (Eevee) / Post Processing + Compositing in Photosho…

Third Place

#UnderwaterCreatures - Rookies Weekly Drills | The Rookies
My final submission for the Rookies Weekly Drills, hopefully on time :)

Weekly Drills 035 - #UnderwaterCreature | The Rookies
Kemp Turtle for the weekly challenge.

F.A.Q

How many entries can I submit?
As many as you want.

How do I tag my project?
During Step 2 of the project building process, you will see a tag input field in the right column under your project title and description input fields. Note: Do not include Β "#" with your tag (e.g. #RookiesWeeklyDrills), the tool already handles that for you. See below for example.
