When did you first realise you wanted to work in creative media?

For my entire life, I have been a prolific and enthusiastic artist. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve combined my artistic skill with my love of technology and found what I hope to be my life’s work: game art and design. I am very social and enjoy collaborating with others. I take direction well and, if given the opportunity, love to lead. As a result, I’ve learned to actively listen, focus on my role in a project, remain sensitive to others’ responsibilities and complete projects on time and beyond ex

What are your career goals?

I would love to work at a AAA game studio as a character or environment artist.

Contender of the Week

Tom Römer

Where are you currently located?

Dortmund, Germany.

When did you first realise you wanted to work in creative media?

I always loved watching behind the scenes footage of movies and games, but the one that got me hooked was "Grounded: The Making of The Last of Us". Seeing how those breathtaking environments were created was and still is really inspiring. After high school, I attended Pixl Visn Media Arts Academy where I studied Modeling, Texturing, Lighting, Animation, Compositing, and Storyboarding. After that, I decided to specialize in Environment Art.

What are your career goals?

I hope to one day work at Naughty Dog where I want to create environments and props that fully immerse the player into the game.

Rookie of the Week

Alex Drewett

Where are you currently located?

London, United Kingdom.

When did you first realise you wanted to work in creative media?

After seeing the Lord of the Rings trilogy as a kid, I knew that I wanted to work in film in some way. I used to be fascinated with the 'behind the scenes' featurettes that were included on the DVDs and would watch them for hours on end. As I grew older, I started taking an interest in VFX and that's when I decided that it was what I want to do as a career. And Star Wars .... can't forget Star Wars!

What are your career goals?

I want to become a Modeller and a Matchmove Artist and then work my way up.
