Harnessing the power of Geometry Instancing in your projects
Maya XGen is a geometry instancer that lets you populate the surface of polygon meshes with an arbitrary number of primitives either randomly or uniformly placed. This means that with XGen you can procedurally create and style hair, fur and feathers for characters.
Maya XGen is a geometry instancer that lets you populate the surface of polygon meshes with an arbitrary number of primitives either randomly or uniformly placed. This means that with XGen you can procedurally create and style hair, fur and feathers for characters. For set dressing, XGen lets you quickly populate large-scale environments, including grass savannas, forests, rocky landscapes, and debris trails.
With all this power, there is good reason why so many members of The Rookies choose to incorporate this tech into their projects.
Hey guys, here is the project I took on for my final semester at Think Tank Training Center. Hope you all like it. Breakdowns for the entire character and close up shots for the guitar and amplifier can be seen in the vimeo videos at the bottom.

As a recent master’s graduate focussed in 3D Computer Animation, I have been exposed to many departments in the production pipeline. An area that is of most interest to me is creatures. Though I enjoy versatility in style and genre, I am truly a fanatic for detail- it is this which underpins this project: Bumblebee.
This is my First animal study , I had wanted to make an elephant for a long time and it was a pretty big challenge for me especially for the texturing part which was a bit tricky so I decided to use mari for the texturing. My main reference was African elephant.
This project was to try and learn realism.I have used XYZ maps to enhance the details, Mari and Substance to texture the character and Arnold for rendering. I enjoyed grooming a lot. Xgen was used for Hair. I have learnt the workflow between Zbrush, Maya, Mari and Substance. Learning and improving along the way.
The Hidden Place is about a Merman that's been brought to an old house by a fisherman. There he’s trying to heal it from injuries it’s gotten after being caught into a fishing net.
